Several months ago, my cousin Toxey Hall III sent me a packet of genealogical information accumulated by his father, Toxey Watts Hall.
Among these papers were a photocopy of a page from a book originally belonging to John Hall, Jr. (1771-1822), of Dickson County, TN.
This sheet has the appearance of the genealogical page of a family bible, but it is not identified as such. The book was inherited, or otherwise obtained by our gg grandfather, Wesley White Hall, Sr. (1819-1886). Who added additional information. WWH bequeathed the book to his oldest son, Joseph. J. Hall, “to be handed down to other generations of the Hall family it being bought by my father AD 1815 Witness my hand/ (signed) W.W. Hall”. The book came into the possession of Mrs. F. C. Ricks (Elizabeth Hall), of Meridian, MS, a granddaughter of Joseph J. Hall, who provided a copy to Toxey Watts Hall in 1973. The current whereabouts of Elizabeth Hall Ricks, if she is still living, and of the original documents is not known. This sheet contains information which I have not seen elsewhere, and in the absence of the originals may be the unique source of this data. Look in my file cabinet for a scanned copy of my photocopy and a commentary which includes a “best effort” transcription of the handwritten document. TAH, 7 August 2007

I looked for Elizabeth Hall/Ricks on ancestry.com.
I found her in the 1920 census in Dorsett W. and Mary Hall's household that you mention.
No Dorsett Hall in any 1930 census but there is a Elizabeth Hall, stepdaughter, age 11 in Sam and Mary E Blanks' household in Meridian, Lauderdale Co, MS census.
Do you know if Dorsett died before the 1930 census and his wife remarried to Sam Blanks?

Dorset Wesley Hall died on 8 Jun 1920. Too bad census availability stops at 1930. I will look for a Hall-Blanks wedding, and otherwise pursue that connection. My cancer therapy is going well, and I am planning a more active roll on this site. After I do a few tweaks, I plan to upload reports on the descendants of Joseph J. Hall and the Descendants of David Hall.

Don: Can you give me Roll and Page or othwer location data for the 1930 Census reference. From home, I normally access Census via Heritage Quest (via public library) and 1930 is poorly indexed.
