Susan Hall & Benjamin Estes

Janet McDonald - Apr 1, 2008

In 1850 Susan Estes is in Ashley Co, Arkansas with her son Augustus and with her brother Berryman Hall (Susan's brother and my husband's 2nd great grandfather) Does anyone have what happened to them? I have that Benjamin, her husband, died in about 1841 just after they were married in about 1840. Berryman left later and then married Mary Jane Mobley and went to Atlanta GA.

Thanks
Janet McDonald

As I was looking thru this family. Three children of John Hall & Elizabeth Anderson married an ESTES. I guess I need to find more about this family. If anyone has any information on the ESTES I would be interested.
Thanks again.

Janet,
I had not found the AR census record.
Susan and Augustus Estes and Berryman Hall are also in the 1850 Greene Co, AL census in the same household, next to their sister Elizabeth Patterson..
The AR census was on the 18&19 Nov 1850 and the AL census was 26 Dec 1850. I think they went home to AL for Christmas.
Benjamin Estes was in the 1850 Calaveras Co, CA census with real estate worth $3,000, probably a gold mine.
Augustus died 2 Sep 1857 and is buried in Rehoboth Baptist Chrch Cemetery in Pushmataha, Choctaw Co, AL.
The church record book list B. C. E. and Susan Estes as joining in 1857.
Benjamin and Susan were in the 1860 Choctaw Co, AL census, so they died after 1860.

Janet,
I would like to add to this information about Benjamin and Susannah Estes:. They moved from Choctaw, AL to Lauderdale County, MS with one son, Leonardas(Lonnie)
Estes (1864) born in AL. He was my great-grandfather. Benjamin, Susannah and Leonardas are in the 1880 census Lauderdale county, MS. ( Thanks to Don for finding
them. ) Look under the name Beryman Esters. Yes , three of the ESTES siblings married into the John HALL family.I have more information on the ESTES family of AL
but Hurricane Katrina kept me out of my home for a year until rebuilding could be done.
I am trying to find my data but it has been slow. I will share with you as soon as possible.
