I'm not positive yet, but I may be. My maternal grandmother was Louisa Merriman Hall, born May 22, 1866 in Kaseyville, Macon County, MO. Census records suggest that she was the granddaughter of Merriman Hall and his wife, Jane Caroline Hyde, and possibly the daughter of their son, James H. Hall. As soon as I get my information better organized and in my computer I will post my rationale and documentation.
In the meantime, Charles "Roy" Hall has asked that I post some pictures that my son took a few weeks ago in Cowee, North Carolina, site of Joshua Hall Sr.'s farm which was established in 1820 and is still in the Hall family. My son was told that owner Katherine B. Porter was a Hall descendant. She passed away a couple of years ago. Her husband, James B. Porter, is in a nursing center in very poor health.
A long time friend and neighbor of the Porters took my son on a brief tour inside the house and some of these pictures are photos of paintings or old photographs. I'm not sure about the neighbors' names, but I believe it may be Lambert. Mrs. Lambert? is the artist who painted the landscape of the Hall farm.
I am a resident of Mesa, AZ but my son lives in Charlotte, NC and he plans to make another visit to the Cowee area. I have asked that he take some pictures at the Cowee Baptist Church cemetery and inquire about any church records for the Hall family. My son was told that Joshua Hall Sr. was one of the first ministers at the Cowee Baptist Church.
More to come....
