Mr. David Hall

Dear Brother:

I take this opportunity to write you a few lines to inform you that we are well as usual, and doing as well as we can. I don't feel as well today as common. I and Harriet are living by ourselves and we have to hire everything we get done, and I want you to see Mr. Alfred Erwin and try to get as much as fifty dollars for me. You know I am in great need of some for I am almost helpless and have so much hiring to do. I herewith send you an order on Mr. Alfred Erwin, and I authorize you to draw fifty dollars of my share of father's estate from him.

Mr. Alfred Erwin:

Pay to David Hall forty dollars of my share of my father's estate and this shall be your receipt for the sum.
