The North Shore Cemetery Association and Fontana North Shore Historical Association Schedule for Homecomings and Decoratios includes visits across Fontana to three cemeterys on the North Shore which are the resting places for many of our Hall ancesters: Cable Cemetery, May 20, Bone Valley And Hall Cemeterys on June 24.
We assemble at Cable Cove entrance to Fontana Lake in Graham County NC by 9am in order to take the pontoons across to the North Shore in Swain County. Each family/ visitor is responsible for lunch as we have a service at the sites of the cemeterys, which includes flower decorations as well as "singing on the mountain". Park service provides transport across the lake and partial transit to the cemeterys. Bring hiking shoes and dress for the widerness in the summer including rain gear and even walking canes or nordic poles for the elevation changes. Bring cameras to record your trip. If anyone will be in the area on these dates it would be an eye opener to see where our Hall pioneers lived until we were forced out by the US for the construction of Fontana to help in the WW II effort.
If you are interested and cant come this year this happens each year with the visit to Cable cemetery always on the 3rd Sunday in May and the visit to Bone Valley and Hall on the 4th Sunday in June.
