William "Billy" Hall - born 1807, Salisbury, NC

Tracy Hall - Oct 3, 2007

Looking for any information any of you may have on my 3rd GGF, William "Billy" Hall, born in September of 1807 in Salisbury, NC. Supposedly, Billy's mother was a "Mary Hall" and his father was a Frazier. According to family lore, they split up when Billy was a boy and he grew up in the home of his mother's family, the Halls. Two years ago, I had a genealogy DNA test and matched on 65 of 67 markers with a man from Winston-Salem, NC named Bud Frazier (which confirmed that Billy's father was, indeed a Frazier). The Frazier candidates for Billy's father lived in Stokes/Granville counties at the time of Billy's birth, and there are a number of Hall families with "Marys" who would have been the right age to give birth to Billy in 1807. The Hall families that seem to have been the most likely candidates lived in northern Rowan County, NC at the time. When Billy was in his early 20s, he moved west to Micaville, NC and married a woman named Sally Smith. Over the years, they had 13 children. I descend from their youngest child, Andrew. Billy was supposedly the first Hall to move to the Micaville area (where he owned and operated a grist mill), but was joined later by other Halls. I'm hoping that someone in this forum may read something here that rings a bell. More on these Halls can be found in "Heritage of the Toe River Valley" (volume 2, i think). If anyone has information they can share with me that might help clear up this mystery, please contact me at "halltray@hotmail.com" Likewise, if I can provide you with more information, please ask. Thanks for your consideration and help! Tracy Hall

Tracy, years ago I was in the library in Rowan Co. - Salisbury. They had a good bit of information on HALLS. I would call them and ask them to copy the HALL file to you. Also ask about a FRASIER/FRAZIER file.
