Maryland will of John Hall witnessed by friend Micajah Merryman

Debbie Hall Daugherty - Apr 23, 2009

No one answered my last few postings but I will ask this and not bother anyone on this site any more.

Are you aware that Michajah Merryman was a close friend of John Hall and witnessed his will of 1778. It mentions his beloved wife Elizabeth and the same children listed in his Burke County will.

I also have copies of several letters John sent Micajah over the years once he moved.

Debbie,
Please don't get mad and quit.
I'm sorry, I don't get around to the Hall site as often as I should.
I'm trying to keep up 4 web sites on myfamily.com and just don't have the energy at my age,
My wife of 57 years and I, were going to restate our vows at our 60th year but decided to do it at our April 11th family reunion because of medical problems. We had 92 family and friends to take care of before and after the wedding but I promise to get back to work on the Hall web site.
Would you be willing to be a co-adminstrator of the Hall web site?
Again, please don't quit because I'm so slow.

Donald, Thanks for responding. I wish I could help but work 50+ hours a week and I am going to school. I guess I was just disappointed fire works weren't shot off because I located these items in a special collection and I have not seen anyone anywhere ever mention the Maryland will or the letters.

It is interesting in the letters he refers to Micajah as Dear Brother and in one letter states "My family is well except your sister for on the 7th ________ we had a daughter born and named after sister Tempy.

Is the brother and sister just christian endearments or was Elizabeth a Merryman instead of a Williamson?

John Hall and family moved to Sullivan NC but also refers to properties in Kentucky before moving to Burke.

Let me know if you all are interested in seeing these documents.

Debbie,
We don't have this information and it's a great find.
We knew there was some connection because John named his sons Joshua Merryman Hall and Micajah Merryman Hall.
Son Micajah moved to KY maybe because of John's property there.
Please post all the information you've found on the web site.
I don't thank web site members enough for the things they bring to the web site, so thanks.

Debbie,

I don't get to the Hall web site as often as I would like. But the information that I have found is really grea! I am from Elijah and Ann Wilkerson Hall line of Burke County North Carolina. Thier son Robert came to Arkansas in 1849 where his brother Elijah Hall and wife, Luncinda Morgan Hall was. His Uncle Josha Hall and wife, Margaret were also here.

Please everyone keep up the good work.
