Family Research and Courtesy for Others

Donna T. Gibson - Jun 27, 2003 I recently ran across some information that appears to have been taken from this website and posted to Ancestry.com. It's listed under Jonathan Hall and states his wife as being Mary Fenwell Black Shanks. The information is not only incorrect, it also reflects the wrong sources to the information. I cannot stress enough the need to share but I also believe the information should only be used as a guide to further research. Not something that is posted to a public forum. Some of us have worked very hard in our research, so please be courteous and ask for permission as well as sources before posting something that may in fact be incorrect. There is far too much out there now and some of it is really leading people blind.

The correct name for Mary Fenwell Black Shanks is Finavill/Finivill Black Shanks and the source to the information is truly neither myself or Don. I gathered it from Betty Guthrie who is a fellow reseacher and descendant of the Shanks family.

Let us take our information and treat it for what it is. Ongoing research of the Hall family.

Sincerely,

Danna T. Gibson

Danna,
Right on. To many people think that when they see something written on the internet or in books that it's right, when in fact it may be very wrong.
Post flags all over that incorrect information on ancestry and rootsweb.
