Debbie said go to the Maryland Archives, so I did and found 4 pages for one sourse ducument where Joshua Hall is purchasing land in 1771 in Baltimore, Maryland.
It mentions John Hall of Joshua as a witness and id's John as a Justice of the Peace.
I posted the 4 pages in the File Cabinet.

The JP Tradition is strong in the Hall family, and has also been passed down in the MS lines. My GGGfather, Wesley White Hall, Sr., was a JP, These Halls started going to Law school begining with his grandsons, Toxey (nmi) Hall and Lee Davis Hall. Toxey fathered two more generation of lawyers.
