Good news

Debbie Hall Daugherty - Sep 29, 2010

I am so excited I just have to share. I received a call today from the registrar at my DAR chapter and she stated my supplement I submitted about six months ago on John Hall was accepted. A number will be assigned in October. Without the help of June Juquish, Walter Hall and others, I would have never gotten this far.

Others have joined or submitted on Joshua Hall and John's siblings but not on John.

Thanks to everyone who has put so much time and research into our Hall family.

Many thanks.
Debbie Hall Daugherty

Debbie: I am thrilled for you. I have been a DAR member for a number of years, and found it to be a very special organization. I have made many wonderful friends through it. I am a descendant of Robert Y. Hall who married Mary Queen. Is he a descendant of the John you have just proven? I haven't been able to establish his parentage and would appreciate any help you could give me. I'd be happy to share what I have

Betty,
I am not sure about Robert Y Hall. I am descended from Rev. Joshua Hall, Esquire John Hall's oldest son. What was Robert's date of birth and death?

Betty Harp - Sep 30, 2010

Robert Y. Hall was born abt 1794 in NC. He married Mary (Polly) Queen 18 Jan 1815.
Their children were Lucinda, John Alfred (mine), Moses, Edwin, Jessie, Robert Y., Jr.,
Dave (Dana), Mary, Sarah, and Martha Lovada. Hope you find some clue in these names. There has been some thought that Joshua Hall was his father, but I haven't been able to find the proof that I felt I needed for this.

Betty,
I did some digging and based on naming patterns your Robert could be Rev. Joshua Hall's son. Joshua had children named Alfred, Moses (who I am decended from), Sarah, Mary and Jesse (who was Joshua's Uncle). I googled a bit but could not find anything definitive. I know there has got to be something out there if you keep looking.

Betty and all,
The person you call Robert Y. Hall, born in 1794 in Burke Co, NC and died in 1871 in Benton Co, AR, is a s/o Rev. Joshua Hall and Sarah Sellers. He is listed as Robert Hall in Joshua's 29 Jul 1841-18 Sep 1853 Macon Co, NC will.
Robert is listed as Robert (no Y) Hall in 1820 through 1870 census, in his 1815 M.B and M.L in Burke Co, NC and the Goodspeed History of Benton Co, AR.
I think some early researcher assumed Robert Y. Hall, Sr and Jr., not proven.
Joshua Hall's will, s/o John, is in the "File Cabinet"
Robert Young Hall born about 1830 in NC is in the 1850 Cherokee Co, census as Robert, the 1860 Benton Co, NC census as R. Y., the 1870 Benson Co, AR census as Robert and the 1880 Benton Co, AR as Young.
The Goodspeed History of Benson Co, AR says Robert Hall and his sons, Jesse and Young came in 1851.
We have proof that Squire John Hall (2 wills) was the father of Joshua Hall, Joshua was the father of Robert Hall (will), and Robert was the father of Robert Young Hall. Just can't prove his middle name was Y. or Young.
For the DAR I would use Robert Hall to prevent any confussion.

Donald, Debbie and all
I have been out of town for several days, so am just now trying to digest this Hall
information. Do I undersand that my Robert is the son of Joshua who is the son
of the John who was just approved as a Patriot by DAR? These family names can
really get confusing.

I was raised in Gentry, Benton Co., so the Lichlyter name is familiar.

Betty,
You are right, that's the line, Robert to Joshua and Sarah Sellers to John and Elizabeth Williamson to Joshua(MD).
Robert Y. Hall and his wife Thuresa (Thursetta) Mary Hood provided the land for the Springtown Cemetery in 1884, so they may be buried there and maybe Robert and Polly Queen also.
Maybe you can locate land and cemetery records in the Benton county records.that arn't on the internet yet.

Hi, Betty -

I've really missed exchanging with you over these past few years, but have had to get real serious about my BURTON line since that was my mother's maiden name. Finally, after 37 years of research, I've put something together (with lots of help from Bob BURTON of Gainesville, FL). I've never found the parents of Mary QUEEN, but haven't taken much time to search the resources I do have. Look forward to hearing from you if you get a chance...

This is on our Esquire John Hall. He actually fought in Baltimore, MD. I have a copy of a document where he was the Justice of the Peace swearing in men for the Oath of Allegiance and a couple of other documents where he served. Most reference as John Hall son of Joshua.

Debbie: Did the list of Hall children I posted here on September 30 indicate to you
that Robert Y is or is not the son of your John Hall? Do you have a list of Joshua
Hall's children? I've been stuck here for several years!
