Donald Mills Godfrey, May 1, 1933 - November 10, 2010

Toxey Hall - Dec 16, 2011

Don Godfrey, the founder and long- time administrator of the Squire John Hall Site, died on November 10, 2010. He made his last posting to our site on October 26, 2010, before he died. According to the record of postings, his first posting was dated Jan 4, 2003, and that is the earliest posting shown. In all, his postings as listed comprise approximately seven pages. Between 2000 and 2009, He posted seventy queries and answers to the Genforum Hall pages. He was a power house of Hall genealogy. While my contact with Don was limited to one telephone conversation, many emails and his postings, I considered him a friend, mentor and kinsman. He lost his wife, Doris Ripee Godfrey on July 6, 2009. His health was fragile during his last few years.

I have been unable to find his obituary, but there is a memorial for Don and also one for Doris. Donald Mills Godfrey (1933 - 2010) - Find A Grave Flowers

I am very sorry to hear of Don Godfrey's death. Although, like many others, my contact with him was limited to emails and postings, I always found him to be very helpful and his information to be reliable and well-researched. It is somehow fitting that the closest thing we have as an obituary for him is the information that he posted for himself as well as his wife in the Find A Grave memorials.
