DAR Supplemental on son Robert approved

Betty Harp - Apr 11, 2012

After I learned Debbie Daughtery had a DAR application on Patriot John Hall
approved, I sent in a supplemental on my line, which is through Joshua's son
Robert, in January 2011. Robert was too common a name for them to accept
with only Joshua's will as proof, and I have worked most of a year trying to
find additional acceptable proof. A relative became interested in locating the
land in Benton County, AR that Robert's son John Alfred received because of
his service in the "Cherokee Removal". In working through that I finally found
that the unit he served with was from Macon Co. where Joshua lived. That
along with tracing several family members through several census records
finally did the trick, and I have just learned today that the supplemental
has been approved. As you can tell, I am thrilled to have all this work
finallyaccepted. And many thanks to Debbie for the original work on John Hall.

Congratulations!!!! This is great news. I know you really invested a lot of time in dogging this and I am sure others in your family line will look to you for assistance so they too can join.
Kudos....Debbie

I am a member of the DAR through my mother's family, Robert Campbell. But would very much like to get a supplemental on my Hall line. Which John Hall would I look under (state and regiment)?

Mary Jean Hall

I live in Van Buren County, Arkansas and would gladly help with any Arkansas research anyone wants done.

Some lines the DAR will approve and some, if documentation is old, they have declined. Now, they are not accepting short forms anymore. I am real excited for you, Mary Jean. You and Debbie have done alot of work that should be cheered! Yea.

This success is truly a testament for perseverance in research and the importance of help from a network of dedicated family researchers. Congratulations and best wishes for more success as you continue your efforts. Robert Young Hall, John Allfred Hall's younger brother, is my gg grandfather. He and his wife, Thursetta, donated the land for the Hall Cemetery in Benton County when they sold their Arkansas holdings. I believe John Alfred, Martha and their daughter, Mary are buried there. I have not been successful in finding death records for Robert Young and Thursetta. I am hoping someone might have a bit of information that can be of help.

And this is our purpose here!. How nice to get in touch with others still working on these Hall lines. I am willing to share the information I have with anyone who would
like the 'details'. A cousin and I recently visited 5 Benton County, AR cemeteries and
the various parcels of land where the Halls received bounty land, purchased or
homesteaded. We haven't found where Robert Hall (John Alfred and Robert Y.'s father0
is buried. He was living with John Alfred oon the 1870 census and died in 1871, but
didn't find him where the others are buried.

Betty, I'm so happy for you. I knew you were a very good researcher. It wouldn't surprise me to know you found the QUEEN line also. I've missed our exchanges, but have been involved in too many activities, but am settling down and placing my entire family tree on Ancestry - name by name, date by date - no gedcoming. I'm offering documentation on all of those in my direct line, and then trying to do the same with "cousins". I'll try to be more attentive to this site. Gerre

Good job!! Sometimes I think it is a test just to see if we will persevere and persevere you did!!!

My ultimate goal is to try and determine where our Hall family truly came from. I know there are a lot of suppositions out there but I would feel more confortable if there were documents to back everything up (if that even exists)......I am always hopeful.
