All,
Thank you for the ongoing responses. First I appolize, I should have explained that the IT fellow and I tried every avenue to avoid costs. We explored what Ancestry suggested, googled for ideas and explored those possibilities, Facebook and lastly Google Plus. We even started working on Google Plus (and he was not going to charge for his time) when we realized there was no way to transition a lot of what Ancestry left off the exportation.
What we have struggled with is this; Ancestry's exportation will not include captions for all the photos, the File Cabinet and all the years of postings. This will require a manual process and I work about 60 hours a week so that was not an option. I think these three things are critical and important enough to save.
Some of you were kind enough to offer to assist and I will pick up the majority of the balance since I have already mailed this gentleman a check. I appologize again if there was a better, all encompasing way to have captured everything but I did spend about three weeks trying.
Squirejohnhall.com is tentatively set to go live September 3rd.
If there is someone out there that is technically minded and would like to take over I would not be offended in the least.
Warm regards,
Debbie Hall Daugherty

Hall reunion in late July/early Aug in Cloudcroft, NM
Hi Debbie,
The Hall Cloudcroft, NM reunion was great. We have our reunions every two years. The Hall site committee is searching venues for the next Hall reunion in 2017. Many of the younger people have taken over this process organizing and planning the reunion, which is great. This side of the Hall's is the Elbert F. Hall KIA Civil War September 27, 1864. We are closely communicating with the John Payton Hall side from Oklahoma.
Several of us have gotten or getting Hall DNA data established. Beside many other areas we are searching, one area we would like to determine and prove out is where did our line come from in Western Europe. Some say Welsh others say Switzerland.
Kathy and I were in Ireland and Scotland not long ago and found many Hall's there.

Where did our Hall family come from
Hi Kathy,
Most Halls in early Baltimore came from England. There are references out there about our Hall family coming from Switzerland and/or Wales, but no one has ever produced documents to validate their claims. They could well be right but without any records to support their claims we have to err on the side of caution.
If someone were to ask me where I thought our Joshua Hall, John's father, came from or his family, my money would be on England, but again I have absolutely no proof.
The earliest record I have regarding Joshua Hall is dated 1734. I have yet to find anything earlier but I keep looking. It is like he dropped out of the sky.
There are indeed many Halls in England, Ireland and Scotland. Hall is a very commond name in Great Britain. I am always shocked by how many Halls there were in colonial Maryland.
Best regards,
Debbie Hall Daugherty
